I AM MAN!!!!

I want to discuss the creation story today. How does Genesis shed light on the man/woman topic? I would like to hopefully reveal somethings and search the scriptures for some truth on the subject.

Genesis 1:27
God created man in his own image. In God's image he created him; male and female he created them.

*So we see here already that God made not just men, but women also in His own image. A precedent is set early by God for equality.

Genesis 2:15
Yahweh God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

*God first puts man on the earth to tend to the garden. Man is a caretaker, man now has an established role, but still equal to woman.

Genesis 2:18
Yahweh God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him."

*God establishes a role for women, a helper. Notice he doesn't say slave. He doesn't say, someone for man to boss around. A helper. Still equal, but with different roles.

Genesis 2:21-22
Yahweh God caused a deep sleep to fall on the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. He made the rib, which Yahweh God had taken from the man, into a woman, and brought her to the man.

*Another push towards equality. God did not take a toe from Adam to make woman out of. God could of taken a piece of brain. Instead He chose a rib. The very center of the body. Not better or worse than any other part of the body. Equal.

Genesis 2:24
Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.

* Equality is again established here in many ways. First, the man leaves his father and mother, not just his father. When that man joins his wife, they will be one flesh, not two seperate ones, one flesh.

I will continue this topic in more posts, because there is so much to cover on the topic. This topic has divided the church and has left brothers and sisters-in-Christ in bitter debate for far to long. Sometimes we joke around about men stuff and women have their girl time. That stuff is great, but somewhere in there the truth is getting jumbled. Churches are led by women, men are beating their wives in an act of dominance, congregations are split. The reality of the topic is sad. Our postmodern church and its surrounding generation has distorted and refuses to see the truth. So in light of this, more to come on the topic of Man and Woman.

A New Beginning

The definition of missiology as stated by wikipedia-

Missiology, or mission science, is the area of practical theology which investigates the mandate, message and work of the Christian missionary. Missiology is a multidisciplinary and crosscultural reflection on all aspects of the propagation of the Christian faith, embracing theology, anthropology, history, geography, theories and methods of communication, comparative religion, Christian apologetics, methodology, and interdenominational relations.
Because mission science considers both the positive and the negative consequences, as well as the strategies of the spread of Christianity, missiology also touches on the environmental impact of evangelisation and charitable work, including practical facets of international politics and economic development.
One of a missiologist's most difficult challenges is to distinguish between practices that are essential to Christianity and therefore must be practiced by Christians in all cultures, and other strictly cultural expressions of Christianity that can be changed and adapted to a different culture.

This blog will not just be about missiology, but recently I have taken interest in the topic, so......
